2 killed in Monroe plane crash

Two people were found dead in Monroe County on Wednesday morning after a home-built plane crashed into the swampy area off of Neyhart Road in Hamilton Township.

Monroe coroner Thomas Yanac Jr. said he couldn’t release the identities of the victims as of this morning.

Autopsies of the two are planned.

The plane was a two-seater Van’s RV-8 and left Pegasus Airpark near Stroudsburg around noon Tuesday, according to The Associated Press. It was reported missing that night.

Yanac told the press that the victims’ remains were recovered and the wreckage was “buried in the mud.”

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash.
