Local roundup: Results from Sept. 13

Northern Lehigh’s field hockey team posted a convincing win over Catasauqua on Friday.

The Northwestern girls and Pleasant Valley boys soccer teams were also victorious.

FIELD HOCKEY

Catasauqua-No. Lehigh

Northern Lehigh rolled to an 8-0 Colonial League win over Catasauqua.

Hailey Krasenics, Madison Cunifer and Alexia Mankos each had two goals for the Bulldogs. Zoey Hathaway and Hailey Evans also scored, while Kendall Heiney made three saves.

Becahi-Pleasant Valley

Jaleesa Lanier’s two goals lifted Bethlehem Catholic to a 2-1 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference win over Pleasant Valley.

Lanier delivered the game-winner to snap a 1-1 tie in the second half. She also scored in the first half for the Hawks, who held a 16-5 edge in shots on goal.

Nikol Smale scored on an assist from Sophia DiFusco for the Bears. Emma Strohl made 12 saves.

Palmerton-So. Lehigh

Southern Lehigh posted a 3-1 Colonial League victory over Palmerton.

Iris Gluck scored twice for the Spartans. Mackenzie Reese also found the back of the cage.

Ana Recker scored on an assist from Molly Mihalko. Shannon Dougherty made 10 saves.

BOYS SOCCER

Nazareth-Pleasant Vy.

Two second-half goals helped Pleasant Valley edge Nazareth 2-1 in an Eastern Pennsylvania Conference match.

Jason Kapsis tied the game, and Matthew Erhardt pushed the Bears ahead, scoring on a penalty kick. Chris Price made eight saves.

GIRLS SOCCER

Saucon Vy.-N’western

Northwestern topped Saucon Valley 2-0 in Colonial League play.

Sophia Motolese gave the Tigers an early lead with a first-half goal. Kylie Zentz scored in the second half. Bailey Groff and Olivia Motolese had the assists.

Pine Grove-Tamaqua

Two first-half goals lifted Tamaqua to a 2-0 Schuylkill League win over Pine Grove on Thursday.

Emma Kuczynski and Sophia Boyle scored for the Raiders. Katelyn Rudy collected an assist.

Baylee Reinhardt made 17 saves in the shutout.

VOLLEYBALL

Pleasant Valley-

Stroudsburg

Stroudsburg rallied past Pleasant Valley 25-23, 18-25, 17-25, 25-17, 15-7 in an EPC match.

Olivia Heyward had 25 assists and four aces and Jodi Hewitt added 10 kills and 16 digs for the Mounties, who took down the Bears for the first time in nearly 10 years.

Cameron Caffrey had 16 digs, 12 assists and four kills for PV (5-2-2, 4-1 EPC), while Desi Beade had 14 digs and two aces. Andrea Crilley added seven digs, seven kills and three aces, and Sara Frankunas recorded 10 kills.
