September 11, 1953 — Tamaqua’s Bill Hood, Bill Feathers and Al Kovolesky all score touchdowns, while the Blue Raiders defense dominates in a 19-0 victory over Summit Hill. The winners allow only 76 yards of offense and also force a fumble to lead to the game’s first score. Hood recovers the loose ball during the second quarter and two plays later, reaches the end zone from four yards out. Special teams account for the next tally as John Matruder blocks a punt and Kovolesky returns it 10 yards for a score. Feathers adds insurance in the final frame on a 23-yard TD run.
