Tamaqua news for Sept. 5, 2019

Rush-Ryan Seniors

The Rush-Ryan-Delano Senior Citizens met Aug. 27 with 43 members in attendance. President Robert Neifert opened with the reading “May God Grant you Always.” Returning members John Fredericks and MaryAnn Laughlin, and new members Judy Smith and Roberta Hollenbach were given a warm welcome by the group.

There is a trip to Penn’s Peak to see Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers on Oct. 23.

The group meets the second and fourth Tuesday of every month at the Ryan Township Fire Company in Barnesville and is open to anyone 55 or older. The next meeting will be Sept. 10 at 1 p.m.

Blood Drive

The American Red Cross Bloodmobile will be held from 1-6 p.m. Sept. 11 at St. John United Church of Christ social hall, 150 Pine St., Tamaqua.

Zion Lewistown

Pastor Jim Williams will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. service this Sunday at Zion Church Lewistown Valley. Sunday school is scheduled for 9:15 a.m.

The fundraiser committee meets on Sept. 10 at 6:30 p.m., followed by the preschool board at 7:30 p.m.

OWLS will meet at the social hall on Sept. 12 at 11 a.m., and Consistory meets that day at 6:30 p.m. in the memorial room.

A blood drive is scheduled for Sept. 15 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Primitive Methodist

The Rev. Rick Clemson will officiate at the 10:45 a.m. worship service this Sunday in American Primitive Methodist Church. Sunday school classes are held at 9:30 a.m.

Trustee Board meeting is Sept. 11 at 7 p.m.

Hope in the Mountains meetings are held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursdays. This is a Nar-Anon Family Group. For more information, call 570-952-5098.

On Sept. 22, there will be no Sunday school. Worship service will be at 10:45 a.m. and the church picnic will be held in the social room beginning at 11:30 a.m.

Calvary Lewistown

Services are back at Calvary Evangelical United Methodist Church, 824 Catawissa Road in Tamaqua beginning this week.

Pastor Susan Moore will officiate at the 10:25 a.m. worship service. The Revelation of Jesus Christ will be the start of a new sermon series on the book of Revelation, followed by Holy Communion.

On Sept. 11, prayer service at 7 p.m. for praises and requests.

Upcoming event on Sept. 15 at Lewistown Valley Tabernacle, concert with trumpeter Chiz Rider from State College.
