Tamaqua news for Aug. 15, 2019

Zion Lutheran

Zion Lutheran Church, Mauch Chunk and Greenwood streets, Tamaqua, will hold their annual Peach Social on Aug. 21 from 4 p.m. to sell out or 6:30 p.m.

Along with the traditional peaches, cake, ice cream and peach pie, the menu will include a turkey platter with filling and glazed carrots, hamburgers, hot dogs, BLTs and homemade corn chowder and garden fresh vegetable soup.

The event is a project of the Zion Culinary Crew, and takeouts are available.

Block Party

The Tamaqua Salvation Army will host a KIDZ Block Party from 9 a.m. to noon on Aug. 24, before the Firemen’s Parade. There will be food, music, free prize drawings, bounce house and kids games. Free school bookbags will be available for students residing in Tamaqua and Coaldale, while supplies last. You must show the students original birth certificate.
