Carbon Dems seek candidates for municipal vacancies

The Democratic Party of Carbon County is seeking candidates for multiple municipal vacancies on the Nov. 5 general election ballot.

Vacancies that exist are for the following positions: two and four year seats for Beaver Meadows Borough Council, board director for Jim Thorpe Area School Board, and board director for Palmerton Area School District.

Interested candidates will submit a resume and cover letter indicating their qualifications as well as why they should be nominated for the positions.

The submission packet shall be submitted via email to CarbonCountyDC@gmail.com or submitted by personal delivery to 125 E. Ludlow St., Summit Hill.

County and state election law requires nominees to be made to the county election office by Thursday, Aug. 22, thus the deadline for application materials to the Democratic Party of Carbon County is no later than 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Materials should indicate the candidate’s compliance with the requirements, including residence within the municipality or school district and Democratic Party membership since at least Jan. 1, 2019.

Materials will be reviewed and the most qualified candidates will be contacted and invited to an in-person interview.

Committee members from those municipalities will then vote on a replacement in accordance to Democratic Party of Carbon County bylaws.
