Dart league

Tamaqua Area Dart League will meet Aug. 26 at the East End Fire Company at 7:30 p.m. Any establishment wanting to join the league is urged to attend. Please bring a list of shooters and bar sponsor fee. This will be the last meeting before the league starts on Sept. 19. Any questions, please call league president, Tom McCarroll at 570-778-4241.

Tamaqua seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on Aug. 1 at the Tamaqua YMCA with 51 members in attendance.

Member Nancy Moser was given a warm welcome as well as guest Hilda Manhardt.

The group is open to anyone 55 or older, meeting at 1 p.m. every Thursday at the YMCA. The next meeting will be held on Aug. 8.

Summer concert

Next up for the summer concert series at the Tamaqua Train Station on Aug. 8 will be The Boys Upstairs with their unique take on songs from the 1990s to today, sponsored by Williamson Friedberg and Jones. Concerts begin at 6:30 p.m.

The Summer Concert Series is a function of the Tamaqua Area Chamber of Commerce. Please do not contact the Train Station Restaurant or The Station Creamery.

Primitive Methodist

The Rev. Rick Clemson will officiate at the 10:45 a.m. worship service this Sunday in American Primitive Methodist Church. Sunday school classes are held at 9:30 a.m.

Activities for the week are: Aug. 14 at 7 p.m., Trustee board meeting; Hope in the Mountains meetings are held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursdays. This is a Nar-Anon Family Group. For more information, call 570-952-5098.

Calvary Lewistown

All services for Calvary Evangelical United Methodist Church in the Lewistown Valley will be held at the Lewistown Valley Tabernacle.

Pastor Susan Moore will preside over the 10:25 a.m. worship service, continuing the sermon series titled The Character of God. This week’s subject is “The Goodness of God — Mercy and Grace.”

Special music will be provided by Calvary’s band.

There will be a 6:30 p.m. Sunday singalong with praise and worship followed by a Bible study with Pastor Susan.

Wednesday evening prayer service will be held at 7 p.m.

An upcoming event on Sept. 15 is Chiz Rider, the trumpeter in concert at 6:30 p.m.
