Tonight at the fair

The Carbon County Fair will open tonight for its 20th year at the fairgrounds at 3285 Little Gap Road, Palmerton.

The fair will continue through Saturday with the theme Fairs Feature Agriculture.

The hours of operation are from 4 to 10 p.m. on weekdays and from 2 to 10 p.m. on Saturday. General admission costs $5 for everyone 6 years and older.

The schedule of events is:

Tonight

• Opening session and fair queen crowning at 5 p.m. on the main stage.

• Reunion of past fair queens, junior misses and runners-up.

• Recognition of vendors and Diamond Level Sponsors for 20 years.

• Jimmy & the Parrots at 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. at the main stage.

• Zero Turn Competition at 7 p.m. (free with fair admission) in the small arena.

• Fireworks at 9:30 p.m. in the arena.

Tuesday

• Children’s Day activities include 6-hour ride special for $15 a rider from 4 to 10 p.m., with special drawing in the Kids Zone — must be present to win, including six bicycles and electronics at 8 p.m., all day pony rides (additional fee), Farmer for a Day from 5 to 8 p.m., Buster the Clown on the midway from 5 to 9 p.m. and Smokey Bear at intermittent times. Wagstaff & Company will perform at 5:30, 6:30 and 8:30 p.m.

• Garden Tractor Pull at 6 p.m. in the small arena.

• Rick K. & The Allnighters featuring Mad Drummer will perform at 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. on the main stage.

Wednesday

• Bill Haley Jr. & The Comets will perform at 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. on the main stage.

• Demolition Derby, Garden Tractor Demo, Junk Car Race and Youth Derby (Ages 12-15) at 7 p.m. in the arena. Admission to the arena is $6 for everyone 6 years and older.

• Senior Citizen drawing at 8 p.m. on the main stage. Must be present to win.

Thursday

• Southern Reign reunion with Cramer Brothers Band will perform at 6:30 and 8:30 p.m.

• The arena will hold Demolition Derby, featuring kids power cars, full size cars and compact cars at 7 p.m. Admission to the arena is $6 for everyone 6 years and older.

• Barnyard Olympics will begin at 5:30 p.m. The event is open to the public.

Friday

• Brian Dean Moore Band will play 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. at the main stage.

• Tuff Trucks events will be in the arena at 7 p.m.

Saturday

• Cramer Brothers Band will perform at 5, 7 and 9 p.m. at the main stage.

• Remote Control Demo Derby will be at 7 p.m. in the arena. Free with paid fair admission.

• Special 20th anniversary drawing at 8 p.m. For each day an adult 18 years and older attends the fair, a ticket for a chance to win a prize during the 20th anniversary drawing will be provided. Must be present to win.
