On the streets at age 84

James Becker, known as the Mountain Man of Ashland, Ohio, spent Friday morning sitting on a public bench on Ridge Street in Lansford, singing uplifting songs and waving to motorists and passers-by. Becker, 84, said he had just been evicted from his nearby apartment after a misunderstanding with the landlord. “But nobody is ever homeless,” he said, as long as we are one with the Lord. “Stop calling my children homeless. Call them in-between situations. No shame in that.” He indicated he has consulted with authorities regarding his situation and wasn’t worried about where he’d spend the night. DONALD R.
