Veterans Treatment Court a success

There is HOPE in Carbon County. On July 17, I along with many others attended the second graduation of the Carbon County Veterans Treatment Court. It was a night of patriotism, hope, accountability, community and success. The Veterans Treatment Court model requires regular court appearances, as well as mandatory attendance at treatment sessions, and frequent and random testing for drug and alcohol use. It is also about connecting veterans to treatment and resources.

The Carbon County Veterans Court motto is “Bringing Our Veterans Home Again.” The three graduates bravely spoke of their addiction; and how it has affected their lives. They also spoke about how grateful they were for the help they have received through the treatment court and the positivity it now brings them. Without Veterans Treatment Court, these three men may have never experienced sobriety. These soldiers went above the call of duty for their country, and now they bravely completed Veterans Treatment Court. They deserve nothing less than to have these resources available to them.

Thank you to the Honorable Joseph Matika, Richmond Parsons, Henry Desrosiers and all the others working so hard to make Veterans Treatment Court a continued success.
