PPL gives grant to United Way

Pocono Mountains United Way announces it has received a $5,000 grant from the PPL Foundation. These funds will support the 211 Helpline for Monroe County.

People and families in need can call 211 to connect with a call specialist who will work closely with the caller to identify their specific needs, and then guide them to available services to help address those needs. United Way refers thousands of people each year connecting them to a variety of needs including food pantries, shelters, support groups, utility assistance, mental health services and governmental programs.

“We are thankful to the PPL Foundation for supporting the 211 Helpline. This program is a lifeline for Monroe County residents in need. Ultimately our goal is to help them find services that will assist them in improving their well-being, health and independence,” Pocono Mountains United Way President/CEO Michael Tukeva said.

The PPL Foundation awards annual grants through a competitive application and review process.
