Allentown police officers shot a man who pointed a gun at them Thursday morning.

According to a release from police:

At 7:03 a.m., Allentown Police officers were called to the area of 5th and Tilghman for a man with a gun. Callers reported that a man was walking down the street firing a gun into the air.

The 911 center saw the man fire a gun into the air on city surveillance cameras. Officers arrived and found the man in the 500 block of north 5th street holding a gun.
