Thunderstorms, heavy rain in forecast today

There is a chance of thunderstorms this afternoon and tonight. Some of the storms may be severe, with damaging wind gusts the primary threat. Locally heavy rainfall may also occur, leading to isolated

instances of flooding.

Here is the latest forecast from the National Weather Service:

Wednesday: A slight chance of showers, then showers and thunderstorms likely after 7 a.m. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 84. Calm wind becoming west around 6 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Wednesday Night: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before midnight. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Patchy fog after midnight. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 63. Calm wind. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 85. North wind 3 to 5 mph.

Thursday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 61. Light north wind.

Friday: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly sunny, with a high near 84. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Friday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 63. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Saturday: A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 8 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 83. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 63.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 86.
