Rush-Ryan Seniors

The Rush-Ryan-Delano Senior Citizens met July 23 for the annual summer picnic at St. Peters Grove, Locust Valley. Food was provided by Hess Catering of Schuylkill Haven. Desserts were contributed by the members.

The group meets the second and fourth Tuesday of every month at the Ryan Township Fire Company in Barnesville and is open to anyone 55 or older. The next meeting will be held on Aug. 13.

Tamaqua Seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met July 25 at the Tamaqua YMCA with 46 members in attendance. President Melody Weicker opened the meeting with the reading of “At The Seashore.”

Anthony Zahora was added to the sick list.

The group is open to anyone 55 or older, meeting at 1 p.m. every Thursday at the YMCA. The next meeting is Aug. 1.

Summer concert

Things will heat up in August as the Skook Jam Band starts the month off with its own blend of classic rock and jam band stylings at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Tamaqua Train Station. This concert is once again sponsored by the Schuylkill County Visitors Bureau.

The Summer Concert Series is a function of the Tamaqua Area Chamber of Commerce. Please do not contact the Train Station Restaurant or The Station Creamery.

Baby food ministry

Saint Vincent de Paul of Saint John XXIII Baby Food Ministry registration is underway.

Free baby food will be given for babies from birth to 1 year at the Church Hall, 307 Pine St., Tamaqua, on the third Saturday of the month from 9 to 11 a.m. by appointment only.

Registration is required at least three days before distribution online at tamaquasvdp@outlook.com or by phone at 570-225-8620 from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Thursday.

This is open to residents of the Tamaqua Area School District, or members of Saint John XXIII Parish.

Primitive Methodist

The Rev. Rick Clemson will officiate at the 10:45 a.m. worship service this Sunday in American Primitive Methodist Church. Sunday school classes are held at 9:30 a.m.

Hope in the Mountains meetings are held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursdays. This is a Nar-Anon Family Group. For more information, call 570-952-5098.

A Bible study on the book of Revelation will be continuing at 6 p.m. on Tuesday in the main Sunday school room.

St. John Lutheran

The Rev. Phyllis Wolford will officiate at the 9:15 a.m. Sunday service in St. John’s Lutheran Church, the eighth Sunday after Pentecost with Holy Communion.

Monday: Worship and music at 4 p.m.

Summer office hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday to Thursday.
