Police report on Schuylkill crashes

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on several crashes investigated by troopers on Schuylkill County roadways.

• A three-vehicle crash was reported at 2:48 p.m. Saturday along Route 61, at the intersection with Pottsville Street, in North Manheim Township. Troopers said Jeremy J. Accardi, 34, of Port Carbon, was driving a 2000 Ford Focus when he was unable to stop for a steady red light ahead due to the possibility of the brakes giving out. He tried to go between two vehicles, one driven by Benjamin R. Zimmerman, 29, of Mohrsville, Berks County, in the right lane, and one driven by Kristen M. McGowan, 34, of Orwigsburg, stopped in the left lane. The front of the Focus struck the front right tire of Zimmerman’s 2016 Chevrolet Colorado truck. The Focus then struck McGowan’s 2017 Subaru Forrester.

No injuries were reported. Troopers cited Accardi for the crash.

• A one-vehicle crash occurred at 12:52 p.m. on July 25 along Route 61 in Port Clinton. Kevin L. Heeman, 29, of Nanticoke, Luzerne County, was driving a 2009 Ford Escape northbound when his vehicle left the road and hit an embankment along the east berm. After impact the Escape spun counter-clockwise and landed on its roof along the berm. Heeman was injured and taken to an area hospital. He was cited for the crash.

• State police at Schuylkill Haven reported a two-vehicle crash at 2:48 p.m. July 22 along Route 61, near Willow Street, in North Manheim Township, Schuylkill County.

Troopers said Edwin Kindred Sr., 83, of Pottsville, was in the parking lot of the Manheim Diner while Mark C. Yuskoski, 47, of Chalfont, Bucks County, was southbound on Route 61. Kindred attempted to cross the southbound lanes to go north and his 2009 Ford Ranger truck was struck by Yuskoski’s 2008 Honda Civic. The front of the Civic struck the left side of the Ranger.

No one was injured. Troopers cited Kindred for the crash.
