A New York state resident drowned in the Delaware River Saturday.

State police at Belfast said the body of Erick David Gonzalez Candelario, 26, of Freeport, was found by the Portland Search and Rescue and the National Park Service Search and Rescue in the river in the area of 276 Stateford Road in Upper Mount Bethel Township, Northampton County.

He had been went missing while swimming in the Delaware River at 4:40 p.m. Saturday. His body was found at 8:20 p.m.

Troopers said the manner of death will be determined by the county coroner’s office.
