Halloween may be three months away, but Nesquehoning is starting preparations for its trunk or treat event.

On Wednesday, borough council voted to approve that the date for this year’s trunk or treat will be Oct. 26 on the grounds of the Nesquehoning Hose Company. The hours will be announced at a later time.

This is the second year the borough is holding this event.

Councilwoman Rosemary Porembo said the reason for the early announce is to allow the event committee time to send out letters to community organizations and businesses asking for support or donations for the event.

She noted that groups and businesses are also welcome to set up a table or trunk at the event.

In addition, Mayor Sam Kitchko said that residents who are interested in setting up a vehicle at the trunk or treat can pick up an application at the borough hall to register.
