July 24, 1974 — Carl Rehatchek collects four hits, including a three-run home run, to help Nesquehoning cruise to a 14-2 Panther Valley Little League tournament victory over Jim Thorpe. Rehatchek’s homer in the first inning erases a deficit and gives the Nesquers the lead for good. Tom Shober adds a pair of hits, one a grand slam during a six-run fifth inning. John Mikovich and Dave Bonner also contribute two-run singles during the win, while Glen Arthur adds two hits and scores a pair of runs. John Staivecki tosses all six innings to earn the pitching win.
