State police at Stroudsburg

State police at Stroudsburg reported the following incidents:

• A Monroe County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence following a traffic stop.

State police at Stroudsburg said David O’Brien, 33, of Pocono Lake, was stopped at 1:19 a.m. on May 30 at Pocono Boulevard and Delmar Street in Mount Pocono for a vehicle code violation. He was found to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol. After performing field sobriety tests he was taken into custody and transported to the county DUI center for a blood draw.

• A 4-year-old was injured when the vehicle he was a passenger in crashed along Lower Lakeview Drive in Middle Smithfield Township, Monroe County. State police at Stroudsburg said the crash occurred at 11:43 p.m. on July 11.

Troopers said Robert P. Gibson, 35, of Albrightsville, was driving a 2001 Subaru Impreza eastbound when a deer entered the road in front of him. He swerved his vehicle to avoid the deer and subsequently the vehicle left the road and struck a tree. Gibson refused medical treatment. The child was taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital - Pocono Campus, East Stroudsburg, for treatment of injuries. Troopers noted the child was in a child safety seat.
