State police at Frackville reported investigating a one-vehicle crash at 1:48 p.m. on Sunday along Delano Road in Mahanoy Township, a mile north of Mahanoy City, Schuylkill County.

Troopers said Kaitlyn Miersky, 20, of Mahanoy City, was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier northbound at an apparent high rate of speed.

Upon cresting a rise in the road and a slight right curve she lost control of the car.

The car spun clockwise about 100 degrees across the northbound lane and shoulder traveling about 210 feet, leaving dark skid marks on the road.

The front left side bumper hit an embankment, causing it to spin an addition 90 degrees and continued backward up the embankment.

The rear left bumper then struck a small tree, spun around 170 degrees clockwise and rolled onto its roof, sliding another 120 feet north along the shoulder, then rolled onto its driver’s side coming to rest on the shoulder of the road.

Troopers said, with the slides, bounces and rolls, the total distance traveled was 335 feet.

Miersky suffered a cut foot, but refused medical treatment. Damages were termed severe to the vehicle, which was towed. Troopers cited Miersky for driving a vehicle at a unsafe speed.
