Funding to benefit local housing project

State Sen. John Yudichak, D-Luzerne/Carbon, announced that a local project has received funding through the Pennsylvania Housing Affordability and Rehabilitation Enhancement fund.

“PHARE funding received through the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency will allow these three organizations to offer an array of services and programs that will help our citizens with their housing needs and allow them to live more independent lives,” Yudichak said.

The Commission on Economic Opportunity will receive $15,000 to develop a Housing Counseling & Homeless Prevention Program in Luzerne and Monroe counties intended to provide direct assistance in the forms of one-time mortgage payments, rental arrears, inspection services and staffing for case management.
