July 8, 1951 — Dick Person tosses a five-hit shutout to lead Palmerton to a 15-0 Tri-County League victory over Coaldale. Person walks just one and strikes out 11 in his nine innings of work. The winners give Person all the runs he will need when they tally nine times in the first frame. Dick Werkheiser and Bruce Snyder combine to knock in five of those runs, while Snyder and John Kresge each collect two hits in the inning. Werkheiser finishes the contest with three hits and three runs.
