Vehicle stop leads to charges

A vehicle stop by Summit Hill police has led to charges being filed against a Coaldale resident.

On June 18 at 10:29 p.m. police saw a 2006 Ford Focus eastbound on Route 902 with the license plate lights not working. A vehicle stop was made after police driver failed to stop for a stop sign at Pine and Amidon streets.

The driver was identified as Joseph Henry Kalbarczyk, 22. A records check showed that he had no valid license and there was an active warrant for his arrest. He was then taken into custody for the warrant. During a search of the car, a blue denim purse containing a glass pipe with burned marijuana residue and a clear baggie containing a green leaf substance. Kalbarczyk admitted the items belonged to him.

He was taken to the police station where he declined to provide a statement.

He was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, stop sign violation, driving without a valid license and lighting violations.
