A Carbon County woman admitted in the county court on Thursday to stealing from a family member.

Gina Marie Raczkowski, 28, of Lansford, pleaded guilty in two pending cases involving theft and forgery before Judge Steven R. Serfass.

She was charged by Jim Thorpe police with taking blank checks from her mother and then attempting to cash them. One check was cashed for $300. In another case more than $1,800 was taken. In one case she was charged with 14 criminal counts of forgery. All those charges were dropped in a plea deal with the district attorney’s office.

Assistant District Attorney Seth Miller said the defendant’s mother did not want to pursue the more serious charges against her daughter, so several felony counts were dropped.

Serfass placed her on probation on the two counts for a year, with the terms running consecutively, and ordered her to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment, render a total of 100 hours of community service, make restitution of $1,820, pay court costs of about $1,000 and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation.
