Man charged with breaking into multiple homes in Lake Harmony

A Lackawanna County man has been charged with breaking into multiple homes in Lake Harmony.

According to the affidavit of probable caused filed by patrolman Dinu Dermargosian of the Kidder Township Police Department:

At 11 p.m. June 10, Dermargosian was advised by the Carbon County Communications Center to check on the status of patrolman Jacob Dinkelacker who was on scene at Old Farm Lane for an unwanted person.

The dispatcher also stated that Dinkelacker was about to take a man into custody for a warrant, and might possibly be looking for an additional man with a warrant.

Upon arrival, Dinkelacker had one man in custody for a bench warrant out of Monroe County, and was searching for an additional man.

Upon searching the property, they found a man along with a tan and white pit bull hiding inside a small homemade camper.

The man, identified as Timothy Mead, 25, was visible through a side window, and was instructed to exit the camper.

Mead had a valid bench warrant out of Monroe County, and matched the description of the person who had recently been involved in multiple burglaries in the Lake Harmony area.

Mead was placed into custody and transported to the police station for processing.

Mead agreed to speak with Dermargosian, and confessed that he broke into three homes on Crest Drive in Lake Harmony.

Mead said he broke into one of the homes four times; broke into another home two times, stealing food, beverages, and a golf cart from the garage; broke into another home and stayed there for an unknown amount of time, where he stripped the copper plumbing from the basement, as well as from the upstairs living quarters, along with stripping the wooden doors from the interior of the home and staging them in the basement so they could be picked up at a later time, as well as stripping the copper electrical wires of the wall and main circuit box, along with moving the homeowner’s personal items from the home and staging them in the basement to be picked up at a later time.

Mead faces charges on two counts each of burglary, criminal trespass, theft by unlawful taking or disposition, and receiving stolen property, along with one charge of criminal mischief.

He is currently incarcerated in the Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000 bail, and is scheduled to appear for a formal arraignment on July 25 before District Judge Joseph D. Homanko Sr. of Weatherly.
