Local Baseball Roundup: Results from June 24

Jim Thorpe knocked off first-place Coplay in Connie Mack action on Monday.

Elsewhere, the Birches gained a walk-off win over East Stroudsburg.

Jared Joyce had three hits and knocked in three runs to help Jim Thorpe cruise past first-place Coplay, 12-4.

Ian Hubbard and Spencer Hunsicker each added two hits, while Brandon Fasolino delivered a two-run triple.

Michael Cadugan-Daugherty earned the pitching win for Thorpe, who tallied five runs in the opening inning. Cadugan-Daugherty allowed just four hits and one earned run in six innings while striking out 10.

Moore Township-Palmerton

Moore Township posted multiple runs in four different innings en route to a 13-4 victory over Palmerton.

Wolfe had two hits and two RBIs for the winners, while Menio added two hits and two runs.

For Palmerton, James Denicola finished with two hits and a run. Branden Kocher chipped in with a triple, run and RBI.

Emmaus-Northern Valley

A dominant pitching performance by Luke Deschenes lifted Emmaus to a 6-0 victory over Northern Valley.

Deschenes finished with a one-hitter and struck out 18 batters.

Morgan LaBuda had the only hit for the Chargers. Jared Snyder paced the winners with two hits and three RBIs.

Northern Valley collected more hits, but South Parkland came away with a 5-1 victory.

Colten Hagadus, Derek Holmes and Justin Holmes each had two hits for the Chargers, while Nick Henry added a hit and a run.

The winners received two hits, one a triple, and four RBIs from Matthew Ervolina.

East Stroudsburg-Birches

Jake Gethen collected three hits, three RBIs and scored a run as the Birches recorded an 7-6 walk-off win over East Stroudsburg.

Tied at 5-5 after seven frames, Eastburg pushed across a run in the top of the eighth to take a lead. But the Birches countered with two runs in the home eighth.

The winners received RBIs from Kory Kearns, Mychal Kearns, Steve Olizarowicz and Adam McConnel.

Limeport scored early and often to hand Berlinsville a 17-3 defeat.

Gianni Sinatore had a double, homer and scored three runs for the winners, while Ryan Seiz and Pat Rhoads also went deep.

The Braves (5-10) received three hits from Jake Schuster.

Jim Thorpe defeated Hazleton, 12-5, to stay alive in the winner’s bracket of the District 18 Little League tournament.

Anthracite/Lansford dropped to the loser’s bracket after suffering a 6-3 loss to Valley West.
