Graduates from Moravian College

Zechariah N. Schweitzer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jonathan Schweitzer of Lehighton, graduated from Moravian College on May 11.

Zech earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in audio technology and recording. He was part of the Moravian College Big Band, the woodwind ensemble, marching band and guitar ensemble.

Zech held several leadership positions in Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity of America. His most recent position with PMA was as chapter president.

Zech has taken saxophone lessons with Robert Fetterman and Jackie DePue at the Lehighton Boys & Girls Band Hall and has played saxophone for 12 years. While at Moravian College, Zechariah studied jazz saxophone technique with Neil Wetzel and piano with David Roth. He has taken lessons with jazz saxophonist David Liebman at Moravian. In addition to jazz, Zech has performed and took an interest in other genres such as classical, metal, hip-hop and ambient.

He is a 2015 graduate of Lehighton Area High School, where he was a member of the concert and jazz bands under the director of Bryan Buffington, County Band and served as one of the first drum majors for his junior and senior years.

Zech aspires to be versatile and proficient in all his music endeavors and loves doing his part in showing people the beauty and power of music.

He is the grandson of the Rev. Carl and MaryAnn Schweitzer, Lehighton and Lottie Kubik, Hazleton.
