Two resign from Eldred planning commission

The Eldred Township Planning Commission will have to say goodbye to previous members Charles Phillips and Archie Craig, who have both given their resignation.

Planning Commission Chairman Robert Boileau had a heartfelt response to Phillips’ resignation by writing a letter. He read it aloud at the Eldred Township meeting this past Wednesday.

“Our friend Charles, Chaz as we call him, has been a contributing and intellectual member of the Eldred Township Planning Commission for almost 20 years,” Boileau said. “He brought to the commission a sense of fairness, combined with an in-depth knowledge not only of our zoning and sound ordinances, but details of the Pennsylvania Municipality Planning Code, the Pennsylvania Code, and the workings of Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors, as well.”

Boileau explained that Phillips is a man of few words, which gives greater impact to the times he does decide to talk. He also described Phillips as not only a previous township worker, but also as a dear friend.

Supervisor Mary Anne Clausen brought up Archie Craig’s resignation toward the end of the meeting.

“We have another resignation to the Planning Commission,” Clausen said. “Much to our surprise, Archie Craig has resigned. He is another long-term member of the planning commission who has served us very well. So tonight, we are prepared to accept his resignation with regret. We will be discussing it more at a later time.”

Neither Phillips nor Craig were in attendance.
