Write-ins win ballot positions in board of supervisor races

One person won both nominations in Towamensing for a supervisor’s seat, while in Lower Towamensing, a write-in candidate won two nominations to set up two different challenges in November for two seats on the supervisors’ board.

Here is what resulted from the recent certification of write-in votes in the Palmerton area by the Carbon County Board of Elections:

Lower Towamensing Township

Connie D. Brown, who win a contested race for the Democratic nomination for a six-year term on the Lower Towamensing Township Board of Supervisors, also won the Republican nomination and appears headed for a seat on the board.

She defeated Ronald A. Walbert by a 97-47 margin on the Democratic side and then garnered 50 write-in votes to win the Republican nomination.

Towamensing Township

There were no contests on the primary election ballot in Towamensing Township, but one person won two nominations via write-in votes to create two contested races in November.

Scott Mosier collected 32 GOP votes to win the nomination opposite Democrat Michael S. George for a six-year term on the board.

He also got 14 write-in votes from the Republicans for the two-year nomination and will face Democrat William Acierno, who was unopposed on that side as a filed candidate.

Tanya Frey received 12 write-in votes from Republican voters to win that party’s nomination for a six-year term on the township’s board of auditors.
