FERN RIDGE - DRUG/DUI CASES

State police at Fern Ridge reported on recent cases:

• Police arrested Paige Goscilo, 24, of Saylorsburg, on drug possession charges after they found a needle loaded with an unknown substance while serving a warrant.

The incident happened at 10:19 p.m. April 22 at the intersection of Erin Lane and Route 115 in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said they arrived at the scene to serve a 302 warrant and upon a search of the defendant found the loaded needle and a plastic baggie containing methamphetamine residue.

• Jerry Smith, 41, and Almon Henthorne, 48, both of Long Pond, are facing drug possession charges as a result of a traffic stop made by state police at the Fern Ridge barracks.

Police said they stopped the 2005 Ford Explorer for Motor Vehicle Code violations at 1:53 a.m. April 21 at the intersection of the Jonas Road and Starry Lane in Chestnuthill Township after which time the men, both occupants of the vehicle, were found to be in possession of controlled substances.

• Curtis Sutton, 53, of Hartford, Connecticut, is facing driving under the influence charges after he was found to be disoriented and confused off Interstate 80 in Tobyhanna Township at 5:30 a.m. May 5.

State police at the Fern Ridge barracks said he was driving a 2004 Toyota Solara that they found parked in the grassy area of the on ramp to the interstate at mile marker 284. Police said upon making contact with Sutton, he was in a disoriented state. Police said they conducted standardized field sobriety tests, after which time they took the driver into custody for DUI.

• Daniel T. Cosgrove, 27, of Effort, was cited by state police at the Fern Ridge barracks with failure to drive at a safe speed after a one-vehicle crash at 1:57 a.m. May 6 on Route 115 in Chestnuthill Township. He was then arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Police said he was driving a 2011 Toyota Camry eastbound when he lost control of it and it went off the roadway, traveling down an embankment behind the Chestnuthill Diner parking lot.

He was not injured.

Police said the DUI charge is pending the results of laboratory testing.

• Lee Sanchez, 36, of Absecon, New Jersey, is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol after a traffic stop made by state police at the Fern Ridge barracks at 1:17 a.m. May 4 on Route 115 in Tobyhanna Township.

Police said they halted Sanchez in a 2017 Kia Optima after he drove off the roadway, after which time police determined he was under the influence of alcohol.

The charges are pending the results of blood tests administered to the driver.
