Tamaqua man threatens to burn woman’s house down

Robert C. Hibbler, 68, of Tamaqua, was charged by Tamaqua police with harassment and for making terroristic threats against a woman on May 20.

Police were dispatched to North Railroad Street and spoke to Hibbler about the woman allegedly stealing money from him. Hibbler was intoxicated and hard to understand. Hibbler told the victim, whose name is also on the bank account, to go get him “roughly $3,000-$5,000.”

After the victim withdrew the money and came back, she said Hibbler was a screaming at her and demanding the money. Hibbler called her derogatory names and threatened to burn her house down. Police advised Hibbler that it was civil issue since both names are on the account and he told her to withdraw the money.

Police said the victim had more than a dozen threatening voice mails from Hibbler.
