Local Baseball Roundup: Results from June 6

The Birches received shutout pitching to gain a victory in legion baseball action Thursday.

NORCO LEGION

Wind Gap-Birches

Nick Ciszak and Kory Kearns combined on a six-hit shutout to lead the Birches to a 5-0 victory over Wind Gap.

Ciszak tossed the first two-and-a-third innings, while Kory Kearns gained the win with four-and-two-thirds innings of relief. Kearns allowed just two hits and no walks while striking out six.

Dallas Greenzweig had a double and knocked in a pair of runs for the Birches, while Jake Gethen finished with two hits, an RBI and a run.

Salisbury-Northern Valley

Northern Valley’s late rally fell short as the Chargers dropped a 6-5 decision to Salisbury.

Justin Holmes had a hit, two runs and three RBIs for Northern Valley, which plated three runs in the final inning before being retired. Nick Henry added a hit and an RBI, while Colten Hagadus chipped in with a hit and a run.

Zach Silfies started on the mound for the Chargers and struck out 10 in 5 2/3 innings.

South Parkland-

Carbon Monarchs

An RBI single by Tejpal Khela in the eighth inning accounted for the game’s only run as South Parkland managed a 1-0 victory over the Carbon Monarchs.

Carbon starter Jared Marykwas pitched five shutout innings, allowing six hits and one walk while striking out four.

Koby Staivecki of South Parkland was even better, throwing all eight innings and allowing just six hits.

The Monarches received hits from Noah Snisky, James Lordi, Ian Hubbard, Randy Bongiorno, Jake Taras and Logan Pagotto.

Schuylkill Valley-Tamaqua

The Schuylkill Valley Falcons used a nine-run second inning to pull away from the Tamaqua Blue Sox and claim a 15-4 victory.

Luke Van Buskirk had two hits and knocked in a pair of runs to lead Tamaqua.

The Blue Sox also received two hits and a run from both Michael Bonetsky and Kaleb Muschock, while Mason Moyer chipped in with a hit and an RBI.

For the Falcons, Nolter had two hits and three RBIs.
