Carbon shelter dogs seeking a good home

Carbon County’s dog shelter pups need some help.

On Wednesday, the shelter posted on Facebook that it has 15 kennels and 21 dogs currently under its care.

Some of the dogs, such as Maxwell, who has been at the shelter for approximately three years waiting for someone to pick him to be their best friend, are in dire need of love that can only happen through adoption.

Maxwell is about 4 years old, loves being outside, but needs a little work on leash manners and would do best with no other dogs or young children in the home.

He is just one of the many stories at the no-kill shelter, operated under the direction of Tom Connors.

If you are interested in adopting a dog, the shelter, located at 63 Broad St., Nesquehoning, is open to visitors from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturdays.

Pictures of many of the dogs available for adoption can be found at the shelter’s Facebook page at Carbon County Animal Shelter PA.

Calling ahead is best due to sometimes the shelter needing to shut down to go out on an animal rescue.
