Tamaqua Seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met May 23 at the Tamaqua YMCA with 45 members in attendance. President Melody Weicker opened the meeting with the reading “ A Simple Prayer.”

Nancy Gerber, Lillian Tomsho and Alberta Woodring were welcomed back.

A memorial service for deceased members Norma Baker, Joe Bednarik, Mary Herbig and Pearl Davis was held, followed by a Memorial Day picnic.

Please remember our veterans who sacrificed their lives that we have our freedom.

The group is open to anyone 55 or older, meeting at 1 p.m. every Thursday at the YMCA. The next meeting will be held on May 30.

Cressona Band

The Cressona Band will kick off its 2019 Summer Concert series at the Tamaqua Train Station on at 7 p.m. today. The concert is free to the public and is being sponsored by Shafer’s Pharmacy. Please bring a lawn chair. For more information, call 570-622-8784.

Primitive Methodist

Pastor Rick Clemson will officiate at the 10:45 a.m. worship service on June 2 in American Primitive Methodist Church. Sunday school classes are held at 9:30 a.m.

Hope in the Mountains meetings are held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursdays. This is a Nar-Anon Family Group. For more information, call Mark at 570-952-5098.

A Bible study on the book of Revelation will begin June 4 from 6 to 7 p.m. in the main Sunday school room.
