PV grad Slavin honored at Lehigh

Former Pleasant Valley standout Seth Slavin was recently named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District 2 team. Slavin, currently a sophomore at Lehigh University, was among 11 cross country and track and field athletes named to the All-District 2 team.

The Academic All-District teams are voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), whose schools are in the region.

To be eligible for the award, individuals must be at least a sophomore, as well as a starter or key reserve on her team with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.30. CoSIDA’s District 2 consists of schools in Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Washington, D.C.

This is the first Academic All-District honor for Slavin.

Slavin holds a 4.0 GPA through four semesters in Lehigh’s electrical engineering program. He is a regular on Lehigh’s Dean’s List, and has made the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll on three occasions, spanning cross country and track and field.

A two-time Times News Male Cross Country Athlete of the Year, Slavin finished 46th at the Patriot League Championships in cross country and competed in the 3000m and 5000m at the Patriot League indoor championships, setting a PR in the 3000m on the way to a 12th place finish. Slavin scored for the Mountain Hawks with an eighth place finish in the 10,000m at the Patriot League outdoor championships and earned a personal record in the 10K at the IC4A championships, where he finished 10th.

Slavin capped a stellar high school cross country career with a 16th-place finish in the Class 3A race at the PIAA Championships in 2016. Slavin also won District 11 and Eastern Pennsylvania Conference cross country titles that fall.

In addition to Slavin, Lehigh’s Jeffrey Kirshenbaum named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District 2 team.

As first team Academic All-District honorees, Kirshenbaum and Slavin will now advance to the Academic All-America ballot, which will be voted upon and announced in June.
