Fruit and Vegetable Vouchers Available June 6

Diakon Community Services in cooperation with the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture will be distributing fruit and vegetable vouchers to qualifying adults.

Eligible participants must live in Schuylkill County and be at least 60 years old. The program starts June 6.

To be eligible, income for a single person must be below $23,107 and $31,284 for a married couple. Each person that qualifies will receive four $5 vouchers for a total of $20 worth of fresh fruits and vegetables purchased at approved farmers markets.

A Pennsylvania driver’s license or photo license is required to show age/residence eligibility.

Distribution locations and dates are as follows. All distribution times are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

• June 10: Tamaqua Salvation Army, Tamaqua

• June 11: Zion Lutheran Church, Minersville

• June 25: McAdoo Fire Company, McAdoo

Vouchers are also available for distribution at the following senior community centers on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. beginning June 6:

• Pottsville Senior Community Center, Pottsville

• Schuylkill Haven Senior Community Center, Schuylkill Haven

• Mahanoy Senior Community Center, Mahanoy City

A representative can pick up vouchers for an eligible senior as long as they have a signed and completed proxy form and valid identification.

A husband/wife must also have the proxy form completed and signed when picking up for spouses.
