May 22, 2008 — Katie Hallingstad scores on a free kick with just under six minutes left in regulation to give Northwestern a 1-0 victory over Allentown Central Catholic in the District 11 Class 2A soccer championship game. Hallingstad hits the lefthand corner of the Vikings’ net from 34 yards out to give the Tigers, coached by Kelly Bleam, the title. Goalie Bredjet Black makes nine saves for the winners, while defenders Lauren Gerchufsky, Samantha George, Seneca Tucker and Aubrey Kehs block numerous shots and help keep ACC off the scoreboard.
