May 20, 1955 — Mike Hurley pitches a three-hit shutout and Jim Thorpe’s offense explodes for a 15-0 Mountain League victory over White Haven. Hurley, who strikes out three, helps his own cause with three hits at the plate. The Olympians, coached by Tom Carr, receive a big game from Pete Wernett, who collects two doubles, a single and six RBIs. Eddie “Rabbits” Trice adds three hits while Clete Kuhla contributes a key double for the winners, who score three times in each of the first two innings and add four more in the third.
