Tamaqua seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met May 9 at the Tamaqua YMCA with 44 members in attendance. President Melody Weicker opened the meeting with the reading of “Lovely May.”

Anthony Zahora, Joan Wall and Nancy Messerschmit were added to the sick list.

Sylvia Houseman and Margie Skymba were welcomed back.

The group is opened to anyone 55 or older, meeting at 1 p.m. every Thursday at the YMCA, with a few exceptions for holidays. The next meeting will be held on May 16 and will include refreshments.

First UMC Church

First United Methodist Church Tamaqua will be hosting a special musical program at 7 p.m. May 26.

Christian musician Chiz Rider will perform a selection of songs, including some patriotic numbers. Admission is free, but a free will offering will be received.

Bethany EC

The Rev. Kevin Roberts will officiate at the 8 and 10:30 a.m. worship services this Sunday in Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church. Sunday school classes meet at 9:15 a.m. TYM Remix Staff meeting 11:45 to 12:45 p.m., Scenic Sundae 1:30 to 3 p.m. Activities for the next week include: Monday, Celebrate Recovery women’s step training 5-6 p.m.; Celebrate Recovery 6:30-9 p.m.; Wednesday, TYM Remix meets at 6:30 p.m., GriefShare at 7 p.m., worship practice at 8 p.m., 8:45 to 9:15 p.m. music and worship commission meeting.
