Deer goes through windshield in W. Penn crash

A male driver was injured Saturday evening in a crash in the 1400 block  of Penn Drive, Route 443, in West Penn Township. The accident occurred just after 7 p.m. as he was traveling west and struck a deer.

The deer penetrated the windshield of the car with the driver being struck by the animal and flying glass. He was treated at the scene by members of the Tamaqua ambulance and transported to a local trauma center. The deer was killed.

West Penn township police are investigating the incident.
