Flagstaff Road closed Saturday morning for half marathon

Jim Thorpe police will shut down Hazard Square and Flagstaff Road Saturday morning as runners participate in a half marathon.

Route 209 will remain open.

The Jim Thorpe Running Festival half marathon will take runners from the top of Flagstaff Mountain to Mauch Chunk Lake via the Switchback Trail, and back to finish at the Asa Packer Mansion.

The race benefits organizations like Turn To Us, Inc., Jim Thorpe Police Department, and the Owl Creek Recreation Commission.

Flagstaff Road will be closed from approximately 8-10:30 a.m.

Then from roughly 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Hazard Square will close so the runners can be loaded onto buses and transported back to the starting line. The running festival also includes a 5K, 10K and relay race at Owl Creek Reservoir which will be held Sunday morning.
