Local Roundup: Results from May 2

Palmerton’s Ryan King and Pleasant Valley’s Trevor Knappenberger both pitched shutouts to lead their teams to victories on Thursday.

Elsewhere, Northwestern’s baseball team won its eighth straight game by downing Northern Lehigh in a game at Reading’s FirstEnergy Stadium.

BASEBALL

Northwestern-No. Lehigh

Nick Henry had four hits and knocked in four runs to power Northwestern to a 13-2 Colonial League victory over Northern Lehigh.

The game was played at FirstEnergy Stadium, home of the Reading Fightin Phils.

Brandon Mengel added two hits, a double and a triple, with three RBIs, while the Tigers (15-2; 13-1) also received a pair of hits and two RBIs from Colten Hagadus. Derek Holmes adds two hits, one a triple, and two runs, with Rafe Perich adding a hit and two runs.

Vince Castrine allowed just one earned run in five innings for the win. Castrine allowed three hits and three walks while striking out five.

For the Bulldogs (4-12; 2-11), Aaron Rudolph had two hits, one a triple, and an RBI.

Bangor-Palmerton

Ryan King pitched a two-hit shutout to lead Palmerton to a 3-0 Colonial League victory over Bangor.

King allowed three walks and struck out four. He also helped his own cause with an RBI single.

The Blue Bombers (11-6; 10-5) also received an RBI double and run scored from Zach Silfies, while Tanner Burnett chipped in with a hit and a run.

Pleasant Valley-ES South

Trevor Knappenberger pitched a shutout to help Pleasant Valley post a 6-0 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference win over East Stroudsburg South.

Knappenberger scattered seven hits, walked three, and struck out three.

Gabe Masker had three hits and an RBI for the Bears (12-5), while Brandon Ratti finished with two hits and a pair of runs. Kory Kearns contributed two hits and an RBI, with Matt Burnett adding a hit and two RBIs.

For the Cavs, Will Fish had three hits.

Marian-Panther Valley

Jade Ritsick had four hits, and winning pitcher Lyndsey Reinoehl knocked in three runs, to help Marian gain a 15-1 Schuylkill League win over Panther Valley.

The Fillies (8-8; 6-5) also received two hits and two RBIs from Emily Shaud, while Macy Alansky added a hit and knocked in a pair of runs.

Megan Pascoe had two hits for the Panthers (5-10; 2-9).

Bangor-Palmerton

Bangor, held scoreless for six innings, scored three runs in the seventh to pull out a 3-1 Colonial League win over Palmerton.

Jenna Learn had two hits and knocked in the game-winning run for the Slaters.

The Blue Bombers (15-3; 11-3) received two hits and a run from Paige Shupp, while Amanda Lalik had an RBI.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Nazareth-Pleasant Valley

Pleasant Valley raced to a big lead at halftime, and cruised to a 25-14 win over Nazareth.

Jules Lopez paced the Bears (12-4) with 10 goals and two assists. Alexandra Bush contributed five goals and five assists for PV, while Hayle Stintsman also scored five goals and added a helper. The winners also received three goals from Brielle McInaw, and one each from Summer Storm and Keara Dugey.
