Tamaqua news for May 1, 2019

Rush-Ryan Seniors

The Rush-Ryan-Delano Senior Citizens met April 23 with 46 members in attendance. President Robert Neifert conducted the business session after opening the meeting with the invocation “Spring.” A moment of silence was held for Helene Clouser. New member John Taylor and returning member Joan Brown were given warm welcomes. Birthday wishes were extended to Neal Flexer.

Upcoming events include: May 7, anniversary dinner at Capriotti’s in McAdoo and July 23, summer picnic at St. Peter’s Grove.

The group meets the second and fourth Tuesday of every month at the Ryan Township Fire Company in Barnesville and is open to anyone 55 or older.

Primitive Methodist

Pastor Rick Clemson will officiate at the 10:45 a.m. worship service this Sunday in American Primitive Methodist Church. Sunday school classes are held at 9:30 a.m.

The trustee board meeting will meet at 7 p.m. on May 8.

Hope in the Mountains meetings are held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursdays. This is a Nar-Anon Family Group. For more informations, call Mark at 570-952-5098.

Soup social

Trinity United Church of Christ, 22 Lafayette St., will hold its next free, monthly soup social on May 4.

Free soup and fellowship will be available from 4 to 6 p.m. in the social hall. Participants are asked to use the lower parking lot entrance to the church social hall.

Tamaqua seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met April 25 with 47 members present. President Melody Weicker opened the meeting with the reading of “God’s Gladness Now Does Reign.”

The group is open to anyone 55 or older, meeting at 1 p.m. every Thursday at the YMCA. The next meeting will be held on May 2.

St. John Lutheran

The Rev. Phyllis Wolford will officiate at the 9:15 a.m. service in St. John’s Lutheran Church with Holy Communion, the third Sunday of Easter.

Also on Sunday, Sunday school and Confirmation at 10:30 a.m.

Activities for next week include: Monday, Worship and music 4 p.m. Thursday, angel choir practice at 6 p.m., shepherd choir at 6:30 p.m., chancel choir at 7:30 p.m.

Sunday, May 12, bell choir practice at 8 a.m.
