Walking for seniors

Dear Editor,

This note is to commend and recommend. I was a recent participant in a walking program offered by Diakon Community Services with the Arthritis Foundation. It was held for six weeks at the Tamaqua YMCA. The facilitator, Jenny Wagner, was very helpful and encouraging straight out of the gate. Her positive and kind training helped us very much to persevere and do our best.

I want to thank all involved for the terrific program as it was very good not only for me, but I think I can speak for many, we all not only enjoyed it, but we grew in strength: physically and mentally. We found ourselves walking farther each time before we felt we needed to rest; further, our walking posture visibly improved, our flexibility grew, and we met each other wherever we were in this endeavor and cheered one another on each time we met.

Though I could not attend each Monday, Wednesday, Friday class, I did make walking time at other places to ensure a regular “workout.” It was a tremendous help to me and I need to make sure I acknowledge the kindness, financial efforts and positive results from all who made the program possible!

Gratefully,

Jeannie Paslawsky
