Towamensing theft suspects get stuck in mud, take a pickup

State police at Lehighton are investigating theft of vehicles and attempted break-ins of vehicles occurring in the Towamensing Township area of Carbon County.

Troopers said on Thursday they received information that unknown people attempted to steal items from multiple vehicles located on Raymond Street. The same suspects then left that address and drove through the front yard area of another house on Raymond Street, where their vehicle, a 2001 Honda Odyssey, got stuck in the mud. The suspects then went to another house on Raymond Street where they stole a 2003 Ford Ranger pickup and fled. The Ranger was later found in a wooded area behind the 200 block of Shephard Place.

The Odyssey and Ranger were both towed back to the state police barracks for evidence processing along with other items seized form inside the Odyssey. The investigation is continuing.
