Sean Luke Bevilacqua makes Eagle Scout — Troop 555

On April 6, family, friends and local dignitaries came together to celebrate the accomplishments of Sean Luke Bevilacqua at Christ Lutheran Church in Jim Thorpe. Anthony Luis Ward and Bradley Thomas Buzzard also attained their Eagle award in the court of honor.

Bevilacqua, 18, is the son of Jennifer and Walter Bevilacqua. He is a senior at Carbon County Technical Institute, where he is a member of the National Technical Honor Society. He plans to attend Slippery Rock University in the fall, majoring in industrial systems engineering.

Penn Forest Township Recreation Park was the beneficiary of Bevilacqua’s Eagle Scout project.

Bevilacqua thanked his family and his fellow Scouts for assisting him with his project. He gave a special thanks to Paul Montemuro for helping him to design and install the roof on the kiosk.

The new Eagle Scout saved his mentor pin for his father, Walter, whom he said helped him every step of his project from design to supplying the tools and for a hand in the construction. He also gave a mentor’s pin to Scoutmaster Shawn Bierman for “sparking my interest in Scouting.”

“Scouting has been a fun 10 years and is the most influential group I have been part of in my life, so far,” Bevilacqua said. “I’m grateful for the friendships made in Scouts and I hope that they will last throughout my lifetime.”

The kiosk took 117 man hours to design and construct. Bevilacqua raised $1,200 to cover the cost of the project. Sean is Troop 555’s 64th Eagle Scout.
