Palmerton and Northwestern had successful days on the diamond Friday

BASEBALL

Palmerton-NDP

A three-run fifth inning helped lift Palmerton to a 4-3 come-from-behind Colonial League win over Notre Dame of Green Pond.

Eric Nothstein led the Bombers with two doubles and two runs scored, while Ryan King chipped in with two singles and an RBI.

King also had a superb day on the mound, striking out 10 and earning the win. Zach Silfies closed out the game to earn the save.

N’western-Palisades

Northwestern knocked off Palisades for a 6-1 Colonial League win.

Justin Holmes sparked the Tigers with a double, two singles and an RBI, while Rafe Perich added two singles and two runs scored. Derek Holmes (single, double, RBI) and Colten Hagadus (two singles, run scored, RBI) also contributed to the win.

Palmerton-NDGP

Palmerton blasted its way to a 24-10 Colonial League win over Notre Dame of Green Pond.

Emily Baumgardt and Paige Shupp both had four hits for Palmerton. Amanda Lalik had three hits, including a home run, while Alyssa Frantz and Megan Green also belted homers.

Northwestern rolled to a 14-0 Colonial League victory over Palisades.

Anna Akelaitis paced the Tigers with two doubles, a single, three runs scored and an RBI. Morgan Farthing remained hot finishing with two doubles, a single, two runs scored and two RBIs.

Emily Akelaitis, who tossed the shutout, helped herself out offensivesly with two singles, three runs scored and two RBIs.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Pleasant Vy.-N’western

Pleasant Valley cruised to a 19-3 non-conference victory over Northwestern.

Jules Lopez led the Bears with seven goals and three assists, while Alexandria Bush followed with three goals and six assists. Hayle Stintsman (four goals, two assists), Brielle McInaw (three goals, one assist) and Julia DeYoung (two goals) also had big games.

Bailey Scheffler, Sarah Schultz and Tess Ledeboer posted the Tigers’ goals.
