Lunch hour story time

Story time for adults will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at the Palmerton Area Library. Bring a brown bag lunch. Coffee and bottled water will be provided. The group will meet in the Knight’s Gallery for a reading of short stories by author and humorist David Sedaris.

Adult egg hunt

The Bowmanstown Volunteer Fire Company, 259 Lime St., Bowmanstown, is hosting an adult egg hunt and DJ from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday. There will be prizes and special drinks.

Class of 1948

The PHS Class of 1948 will hold its gathering at noon April 18 at Bert’s Restaurant in Palmerton. The gathering is very informal. Bring your spouse, companion or caregiver. All are welcome. Any questions, call Norm Eckhart at 610-826-3218 or Blanche Yanick at 610-826-7885.

All-you-can-eat breakfast

An all-you can-eat breakfast will be held from 7 a.m. to noon Sunday at the Towamensing Volunteer Fire Company, 105 Firehouse Road, Palmerton (Trachsville).

Veterans Memorial

The flag at the Veterans Memorial at the entrance to Palmerton became tattered due to weather. It was taken down and a new one has been ordered. The cost to replace the flag is $800 each time it needs to be replaced.

Anyone wishing to give a donation to defray this cost may send it to Palmerton VFW, 2020 Forest Inn Road, Palmerton. Your donation is greatly appreciated.

Booster club

The next registration date will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. April 16 at Palmerton Borough Hall. All cheerleaders need an insurance card. All football players will also need an insurance card, and if they are new to the club, will need a birth certificate as well.

Saturday Story Time

Saturday Story Time will be held at the Palmerton Area Library from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. Saturday for ages 5 and younger. In celebration of National Library Week, there will be stories, songs and play.

Fish fry

The 31st Annual Good Friday Fish Fry will be held from 3-7 p.m. April 19 at the Aquashicola Volunteer Fire Company, 270 Little Gap Road, Palmerton. Takeouts will be available by calling 610-826-2066 during the event. There will also be a 50-50 drawing and prize raffle.

Library board

The Palmerton Area Library Board of Directors will meet at the library at 4 p.m. April 17. Meetings are open to the public.

Egg hunts

The Palmerton Memorial Park Association will host an Easter Egg Hunt at 11 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Park, 1255 Third St., Palmerton, for children 10 and younger. There will be prizes.

An egg hunt will be held in Palmerton Borough Park at 1 p.m. the same day.

Jerusalem UCC

On Palm Sunday (this Sunday), Jerusalem United Church of Christ, 545 Church Drive, Palmerton (Trachsville) will hold services at 9 and 10:30 a.m. An egg hunt will be held during the 9 a.m. service in the grove. In the event of bad weather the drive will be held downstairs in the fellowship hall.

Each child shall bring their own basket, but if you don’t have one, one will be supplied. Pick up filling from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Maundy Thursday Taize Service will be held at 7 p.m. April 18. Good Friday Tenebrae Service will be at 7 p.m. April 19.
