April 3, 2007 — Tamaqua’s Erika Barron and Marian’s Rachel Connely are both named to the Associated Press Girls All-State Basketball team. Barron, a senior, makes the 2A Second Team after scoring an average of 24.6 points per game and hitting 82 three-pointers. She also led the Blue Raiders in steals and assists and helped the team post a 19-7 record. She finished her career as the all-time scoring leader in school history with 2,317 points. Connely, a junior, is selected to the 1A Second Team after scoring 12.5 ppg and leading the Fillies (25-5) in rebounding. She also shot 79 percent (92-of-116) from the free throw line.
