March 26, 1980 — Ann Kusko tosses a no-hitter as Panther Valley’s softball team opens the season with a 6-3 victory over West Hazleton. Kusko strikes out 10 batters and walks six. Three PV errors help account for their opponent’s runs. Kim Gogal collects three hits, one a two-run double, for the winners while Yvonne Cormier contributes three hits and a pair of runs. The Panthers, coached by Anita Herman, also receive two hits, two runs and two RBIs from Mary Jo Pisko.
